Beauty Review: Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Colors

Wet n Wild
Mega Last Lip Colors

A Beauty Review By: Michelle Hibbard

Woo-Hoo Wet n Wild!

These are the Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Colors. They come in 26 different colors from your lightest pink to the darkest vampy shades and everything in between. These Lipsticks are all a semi-matte finish but they aren't super dry, they are actually very creamy. That is something you don't normally find in a drugstore matte lipstick. From my own experience most drugstore matte lip colors are very dry going on and dry out my lips too. They are also extremely long-lasting.

There are quite a few dupes for MAC lipsticks, such as the color Pinkerbell is a dupe for MAC's Viva La Glam Nicki, the color Cherry Picking is a dupe for MAC's Love Goddess, Persimmon is a dupe for MAC's Sail La Vie, Red Velvet is a dupe for the ever popular Ruby Woo, Vamp is a dupe for MAC's Cyber and Dollhouse is a close call for MAC's Pink Pigeon and Candy Yum Yum.

MAC lipsticks are priced around $16, these Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Colors...$1.99! If you go to Rite Aid or Walgreens the Wet n Wild brand is constantly on sale. I bought half of mine for $0.99! For these prices and the amazing quality you really cant go wrong!
Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color Don't Blink Pink 966

Of the amazing variety of 26 different colors I own 9. I will purchase more I'm sure of it, but here are some pictures so you can see the color pay off and creaminess of these lip colors.

FYI: In the photos these colors look shiny, they are matte it is just the super lights I used in the pictures that make them look glossy. Sorry about that but I had to use these light so you can see the true color of the lipsticks.

Don't Blink Pink
This is a pink color but what the picture doesn't really show is it has a bit of mauve to it. This is a lighter pink so I like it for when I do a darker eye and don't feel like wearing a nude lip color.

Think Pink
This is a very pale pink. Great Spring color and looks beautiful with any gloss over it. I used a gold gloss with this, just experimenting and it actually came out looking amazing.

Stoplight Red
This is a fiery red with a bit of orange mix. Definitely to make your lips pop!

Cherry Picking
This color is brighter in person, almost a dark magenta color. It is beautiful and applies amazingly. One of my favorites.

Sugar Plum Fairy
A total Plum color, not too dark and that is what I really like about it.
More like the inside of the plum. Lol.

Mauve Outta Here
A Creamy Mauve color, another color great for a dark eye when you dont feel
like wearing a nude lip, but don't want a dark color on your lips.

Bare It All
A simple creamy nude color with a bit of tan. Works for any skin color.

Dollhouse Pink
One of the most popular of the Megalast line. A bright baby pink, almost pastel with
blue undertones which helps teeth look whiter. Now that we are entering the warm/hot months its time to pull out the hot and warm colors ladies!
Another of my favorites.

Pinkerbell
Dollhouse Pink was my #1 until I bought this lipstick. This color makes me think if baby pink and coral had a baby it would be Pinkerbell, very pretty and a great Spring/Summer color.

Beauty Review: Kara Vita

A beauty review on the Kara Vita facial regimens
by:
Michelle Hibbard

I was recently offered a opportunity to try the Kara Vita Hydrating and Balancing Regimens. I was not paid to do this review or compensated in any way. I was sent about two weeks worth of samples to try these regimens and give a review. Everything in this review is 100% my opinion and feelings toward these products. No sugar coating, Girl Scout promise!
OK my fellow beauty lovers, lets jump in...

Kara Vita: Hydrating Regimen
The Hydrating Regimen includes the following: Hydrating Cleanser, Complexion Mist, Antioxidant Treatment, Face Essential, and PBH Exfoliating Facial Masque.

This set is regularly priced at $155.00, if you become a club member you pay $131.75, that is a total savings of $23.25 if you join.
At first I thought this sounds expensive, it really isnt though. Even if you purchase decent drugstore skin care products you are more than likely spending $100 on different brands that aren't even close to the quality of this regimen.

I was sent samples for everything in the picture and list above except for the PBH Exfoliating Masque. Unfortunatly I cannot review the masque because I simply did not use it. The other amazing 4 products I am going to review for you.

Hydrate and Cleanse

Let me start by the order in which this regimen is numbered for use. First product being the Hydrate and Cleanse. This is a gentle cleanser intended for dry, sensitive skin types and is said to soothe, hydrate and remove impurities. I put a small amount on my fingers before applying to my face and rubbed it between the tips of my fingers to get a feel for the texture. I noticed there was no lather, which made me a little weary. (Products I have experienced like this usually leave my face feeling greasy.) I applied all over my face and neck in circular motions. It took very little product to clean my face.
After rinsing my face felt very clean, not at all greasy. The smell of these products is like aroma therapy. They have very calming fragrances to them, which I really like.

This product by itself is regularly priced at $26.00, club price is $22.10. Club price savings: $3.90

Hydrating Complexion Mist

The Hydrating Complexion Mist is a spray toner that is said to remove left over traces of dirt, make-up and other impurities left on skin after washing. The site says it can also be used as a make-up remover, I did not try this as a make-up remover so i cannot comment on that claim. It is also supposed to leave your face feeling refreshed and renewed. I feel it did work well as a toner and it did leave my skin feeling refreshed.

My only issue is that since I was using samples it was extremely hard to apply the mist to my face. As you see in the photo how this item was packaged it would leak and while applying I would have to drip it all over my face which wasn't my favorite step. I wasted a lot of product due to the packaging fail.
However... I love the way it made my skin feel so I did not skip the step but it was a bit annoying. This was a sample however a purchased item would come in a bottle with a spray pump so this wouldn't be a issue with a purchase.
This item by itself is regularly priced at $26.00, club price is $22.10. Club price savings: $3.90

 Hydrating Antioxidant Treatment

The Hydrating Antioxidant Treatment is said to reduce lines and wrinkles, correct damage and renew skin, calm skin, balance moisture levels, repair skin and promote new cell development.
This is my favorite product out of both regimens that I tried. I love this cream and I was so sad when the sample ran out. I will be purchasing this product as soon as I finish the one I am currently using by The Balm. This cream has so many benefits and feels so good going on the skin. Within 3 days I was already seeing improvement. I have dry, blotchy skin and I just turned 32 so the fine lines are creeping up quickly! I used this all over my face and down my neck to my collar bone. I saw a reduction in the fine lines around my eyes, my face looked smoother, dryness was gone and it even helped with some of the redness on my face.

Love, love, love this product! This is a great cream for anyone in their 30's and older. The price is great for what you receive. I have bought $80 creams that I used for months that didn't show half of the benefits that this cream did in just 3 days!
This item by itself regularly is priced at $57.00, club price is $48.45. Club price savings: $8.55.
Face Essential with SPF 15

The Face Essential with SPF 15 is said to deliver long-lasting hydration and guarantees UV protection. It also provides radical defense to protect skin from environmental assault, helps prevent visible signs of aging. Non-comedogenic.  A light moisturizer with broad-spectrum protection.

This was the final product I used from this regimen. I feel it did cover all of the statements listed above from their site. It is a very light moisturizer so for me it doesnt work well. I have very dry skin, especially around my T-zone so I tend to use a heavy moisturizer. This is perfect for normal to slightly oily skin though. It could even be great for combo skin. I am not saying this isnt a great face lotion, because it is, I just have super dry skin so I doesnt work for me. If you have any of the skin types I just listed this regimen is perfect for you. If you have really dry skin like I do this regimen can still work, you can either purchase single items or buy the regimen and just ad an extra moisturizer of your choice into the mix.

This item is regularly priced at $26.00, club price is $22.15. Club price savings: $3.85.

Kara Vita Balancing Regimen

The Kara Vita Balancing Regimen includes the following: Balancing Cleanser, Complexion Mist, Antioxidant Treatment, Face Essential, and PBH Exfoliating Facial Masque. This set is regularly priced at $155.00, if you become a club member you pay $131.75, that is a total savings of $23.25 if you join.

Again I will be going in the order of each step as listed above also of the products I did review. ( I did not receive samples for the Balancing Complexion Mist or the PBH Facial Masque so I will not be reviewing those items.)

Balancing Cleanser

The balancing cleanser is said to control excess sebum to control excess oilyness. (Sebum is an oily substance made by the sebaceous glands on skin and hair to protect the it from drying out and making hair and skin waterproof. When your skin makes excess sebum it causes your skin or hair to be extra oily.) It is a gentle cleanser so it wont dry or irritate skin.

I had to be careful using this regimen because it is really meant for oily skin, my skin being very dry I was a little worried about drying my face out. Knowing that I could make my skin issues worst I decided to try it anuway. Turns out there was nothing to worry about. The cleanser kept my face clean, did not dry it out but I do feel it should be targeted for normal to oily skin types. Even though it did not dry my face it didnt do as much for me as the Hydrate and Cleanse. Like I said, it just wasn't a fit for my skin type but this is a great cleanser for oily skin!

This item is regularly priced at $26.00, club price is $22.10. Club savings: $3.90.

Antioxidant Treatment and Face Essential SPF 15

The Antioxidant Treatment and Face Essential SPF 15 are they same items listed in the Hydrating Regimen. Since they are reviewed above, please see above for info.

 5 Piece Purifying Regimen

This is the third regimen by Kara Vita, the Purifying Regimen. This set includes the following items: Purifying Cleanser, Complexion Mist, Antioxidant Treatment, Face Essential, and PBH Exfoliating Facial Masque.

I did not try this regimen but decided to include it so that you all know there is a third option. This regimen is great for controlling breakouts, refining pores, soothes irritation and will leave you with a clear, smooth face. Two of the ingredients in the cleanser that are intended to clear skin are the natural antiseptic properties of Lavender and Lemon oils.

If you have breakouts, rosacea, fine lines, wrinkles and/or sensitive skin I think this is the regimen for you.

Overall review

This is a incredible line that has made up regimens that can work for any skin type. These are great for combo skin too because any of these regimens can work in your favor for dual problems you are having with your skin. There are other products out there that can give you the same quality but for a much higher price. This is a amazing skin care line that is affordable, which isn't easy to find! If you are looking for a new skin care line, tired of the one you are using now because it isn't working like it used to, or just want to try something new, I recommend trying whichever regimen is right for you from the Kara Vita line. Again I am NOT being compensated in ANY way for this review. This is 100% my opinions and experience while using the samples I was provided.

Beauty review: Million Dollar Tan, Is it really worthy its name?

Million Dollar Tan
Cabana Tan face and body lotion

A beauty review by:
Michelle Hibbard

Thanks to Youtube and the amazing deals at HauteLook I decided to try Million Dollar Tan, a sunless tanning lotion.

There was quite a bit to choose from. Sprays, lotions, face, body, extreme tanning lotion, the essentials kit to Cabana Tan, and more.

So out of all of the options I chose the Cabana Tan Face and Body Combo. I bought it on HauteLook so I think I paid around $20, but on the Million Dollar Tan website this small set is retail priced at $62.

This set

included the Cabana Tan Face Lotion and The Cabana Tan Body Lotion, very simple. I am naturally very light skinned so the Extreme was not for me. I was a little weary of the spray because from past experience sprays don't tend to work well for me. It always came out blotchy on my skin. I'm sure I wasn't doing it right.

Before applying I took a shower making sure my body and face were clean before application. I did not put any other moisturizer or lotion on my face or skin.

I started with my face, applying a generous amount to my face, hairline, around my ears and on my ears, down my neck to my collar bone and then around to the back of my neck/top of my back and the hair line in the back and behind my ears. I don't want any white spots!

Then I apply the body lotion only to my arms, shoulders, chest and legs. I want to test it out before I take the time to do my whole body.

After the body application I wash my hands, then take a cotton ball with some of the body tan lotion on it and apply it to the top of my hands. If the product gets on your palms/inside the hand it will turn them a disgusting burnt orange color.

I should have, however, washed my hands after applying the lotion to my face. Instead I went straight to applying the body lotion. The lotion sat on my hands for too long making them slightly orange.

FYI: I have redness throughout my face so it may appear I am darker than
actually am in this photo.

This was 100% my fault. The instructions on the face lotion specifically say to wash hands after application, which I read before applying but thought whats the point if I am applying more to my body right after my face application?
Well that was the point I guess!

Besides the issue with my hands, again, my fault, there are pros and cons to this product. In the title of this blog I wrote "does the product live up to its name?", in my opinion the answer is... no.

I am not saying this is a horrible self tanning lotion but if you read above the claims they make, "Never orange", wrong! It says this the Cabana Tan Face and Body Pack is "Perfect for those with light to medium skin",  also "Oder free" and "Wont Stain", all of these I have found to be untrue.

To be perfectly honest, I applied these lotions at night, and the next morning I felt I was pretty satisfied. In fact I started a great review on this product. Then my kids caught a cold so I put the review on hold for a few days. In those 3 days my great review did a 180 degree turn.

Review:

So here is my updated review. Let me start off by saying I am in no way a self tanning lotion expert, I have very little experience with self tanners. I sometimes use them in the Spring, I DO know enough to give a review as a consumer though. Like I said before, this product has both pros and cons, so its not a 100% fail.

I want to start with the positives.

The Cabana  Tan Body Lotion: When applying this lotion, although it is supposed to have no Oder, it did have that self tanning lotion smell to it but it wasn't very strong like other lotions. It didn't bother me at all and I am very sensitive to smells. The lotion was not greasy, it dried into the skin immediately. I applied this lotion before bed, so when I woke up I noticed that my arms and legs (where I applied the self tanner) were a nice tan color, not orange, that was a big plus for me. There was no stains visible on my clothing and there was no streaking on my skin. So far I was really loving this lotion. The next night I applied more because I wanted to go a little darker. Still loving this tanner.

I was using lotion morning and night because on the back of these lotion bottles it says to keep your skin moisturized because it will help your tan last longer. The third day I moisturized in the morning and went on with my day, I was wearing a white V-neck shirt. When I got home and got ready for bed I noticed that there was tanner all over the neck and arm area of my shirt. Keep in mind I had not used the tanning lotion since the night before and had no stains on my pajamas. I haven't applied anymore lotion since that second night and it is now 2 days later and I am still getting stains on my clothes from the lotion. So my conclusion is that as it wears ir starts to come off with the moisturizer, which I believe any lotion will make it do this since I used 3 different body lotions. Even without lotion any perspiration makes it come off.  It isn't a lot, but it is enough.

Cabana Tan Face Tanning Lotion:
I have dry skin so after showering I applied my usual facial products including moisturizer, waited about 20 minutes for it to all soak in and then applied the face tanning lotion. Went to bed, woke in the morning and my face was tan, but it had a orange tint to it. Not like the body lotion which didn't really have a orange tint. I thought since I wear makeup anyway its not that big of a deal but I was a bit disappointed. Looked great, no streaking or blotchy areas. It didn't make my pores darker and it all blended really well. Best of all it seemed to make my skin look better. Acne wasn't
as noticeable, redness was not visible at all and my skin just looked so much smoother.

I apologize for the "duhhh" look on my face in this picture!

That night when I went to wash my face I started with my usual first step of my routine, make-up removing wipes. I was wiping all of the foundation off of my face when I noticed it seemed like I was wiping forever and I still wasn't getting the foundation off. Then I realized it was the tan that was coming off with the wipe! What the hell? So I stopped with the wipes, washed my face and the applied more of the tanning lotion to put back whatever tan I just wiped off. The next night it was the same thing. I even used a more natural brand of wipes that I never use because I always felt they didn't work very well. The natural wipes were taking just as much of the tanner off as the others.

I have used cheap tanning lotions and never experienced this before. So only 3 days after my last application and the tan is completely off of my face. My body however is still super tan.

Now they do say on the bottle that the face is washed more often and exfoliates faster than the rest of the body. I get that, but it also says that the tan will last at LEAST a week. Mine is completely gone in 3 days. I don't use a Clairsonic and I haven't used anything abrasive like a scrub so this shouldn't be wearing off this fast.  For as much as this tanning lotion costs it should stay on my face for more than 3 days!

Now, having said all of that I will continue to use these self tanning lotions until they run out, but I will not be repurchasing them.  I do not hate this product, there are things about it that I like. I just cant wear white while using it and I will have to apply the face lotion every few days.

I just don't see what all of the hype was about! Sorry Million Dollar Tan!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      ,
